Unexpected Micro Clots Contribute to Long Covid?

                                        Credit:  AdobeStock_130536573

As time passes, new observations and challenges are being discovered about the aftermath of COVID infections.

The previous blog (see below) looked at post-mortem, white clots in patients who previously had COVID.  These white clots were first recognised by embalmers preparing bodies for funerals.  The clots were not like normal blood clots and is now considered a 'new post-COVID disease'.  It is a puzzling result of either the virus itself, the vaccination and/ or the treatment of COVID.  More research is necessary.

Long COVID

However, for those of us who have recovered from the COVID virus, and have been 'diagnosed' with the amorphous/ undefined set of symptoms, dubbed 'LONG COVID', here are some new things I have discovered you might find of interest.

"Long COVID" usually occurs from six months to a year after recovery from the virus, although more research is needed.  Symptoms vary so widely that it can be missed or thought to be psychosomatic and includes:

The most commonly reported symptoms include:

  • FatigueSymptoms that get worse after physical or mental effort
  • Fever
  • Lung (respiratory) symptoms, including difficulty breathing or shortness of breath and cough
  • Neurological symptoms or mental health conditions (difficulty thinking or concentrating, headache, sleep problems, dizziness when you stand, pins-and-needles feeling, loss of smell or taste, and depression or anxiety)
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Heart symptoms or conditions, including chest pain and fast or pounding heartbeat
  • Digestive symptoms, including diarrhea and stomach pain
  • Blood clots and blood vessel (vascular) issues, including a blood clot that travels to the lungs from deep veins in the legs and blocks blood flow to the lungs (pulmonary embolism)
  • Other symptoms, such as a rash and changes in the menstrual cycle

In mid-November 2022, months after recovering from my first bout with COVID, (AND having been doubly-vaccinated (or I would lose my job)), breathing and the ability to sleep through the night had become a surprising challenge for me.  I began to do research to see if there were any reports about ongoing symtoms and treatments.

Dr. John Campbell

Dr. John Campbell (one of the key researchers, professional educator and a man of uncompromised integrity), had shared many resources and observations that were helpful.  His even-handed reporting from the very start kept a sensible balance for any of us who wanted truth over hype.  I've posted several over the last few years for you.

Micro-clotting

He had first hinted at micro-clotting and this led me to further, targeted research into something called endiothelial disease/ dysfunction.  In post-COVID patients, this was manifesting as widespread, micro-clots that formed and disrupted normal oxygen transfer.

But little was known about this fringe finding in relation to COVID.  It wasn't being researched much, if at all, and once someone recovered, it was not routinely tested for.

However, it was being detected in the brachial artery.  This artery provides the blood supply to your entire arm from shoulder to hand.

It is typically accessed when a doctor is testing for the oxygen level in your blood, such as when there are serious breathing difficulties (COPD) or with a heart attack.  The procedure consists of a needle being stuck  into the artery, known as an arterial blood gas draw (ABG) or blood Ox test.

Personal Experience

Research into this is just taking off and I'm concerned it may also be related to the white clots routinely being found by embalmers.  Strangely enough I visited the doctor yesterday to have her check on a strange swelling in my wrist.

The initial injury occurred when I had an emergency ABG that became infected and resulted in septicemia (blood poisoning).  However, after a recent blood draw for some annual tests, I noticed an aching in my wrist as if I had pulled a muscle and the vessel was swollen where the original ABC had been taken (not in my inside of my elbow).

When I showed the doctor how swollen the inside of my wrist was, she told me that until she could have some tests run, I was not to have any needle sticks or blood pressure taken in that arm.

COVID Clots

So today when I came across the video below, it was timely and important for my readers.  I urge you to take time watching it if you, a loved one or friend has not yet, fully recovered from either COVID or the vaccination (it is almost an hour, but well worth it):

It Takes a Long Time to Get Valid Statistics

Evidence on covid restrictions are growing more conclusive.  And the news is not what the mainstream media has trumpeted all along.

It was apparent that the statistics being used world wide regarding the start and roll on of the COVID-19 infections and deaths would not be valid until there was time to gather more accurate statistics to base decision upon.

I monitored and shared statistics from the start of the spread of the virus and often wrote about the questionable numbers.

Initially, it was so obvious that China was denying there were ANY deaths, let alone the true number of those infected.  And yet, the progression of the disease:  infections to death ratio of the country of origin was critical.  Nevertheless, in the need for secrecy China and other countries as much as denied the effects.

Other countries began to count, but there was no standardisation of what to count -- no definitions of infection stages, etc., -- you can't compare apples and oranges and expect to make valid decisions.

Other countries never got around to counting because the disease began to seriously impact populations and it was obviously more important for those countries to manage the health support of those who were suffering intending to get to statistics later.  Some of them did.

I would not have known this if hadn't noted the statistics each day and used my own Excel spreadsheet to watch the growth, spread and death rates myself.

And then, there were statistitions who began to 'project' what the data might indicate in the days that lay ahead.  They were well meaning -- but based their observations on statistics that could not be relied on.

It is not yet far enough away from the start and progression of the disease to even believe it is over yet, because more variants are still arising to add to the already inaccurate statistics swirling in pots of 'here's the proof' conclusions.

One thing to note, Dr. John Campbell, has been faithful not to frost over any discovery even when it meant others took actions to silence him.  If you are not familiar with his YouTube channel, he began it at the beginning of the pandemic and has remained the central voice of scientific reason.  Today nearly three million people follow his channel.

Here is a link to his YouTube channel.  I highly recommend it.

IMPORTANT Research Results between Ivermectin and Remdesivir

As I've observed for the last two years since the initial Wuhan New Years celebration and the spread of this disease, the facts are NOT yet sorted through.

There has been so many knee-jerk decisions made in the midst of the chaos of this disease, including lockdowns and wearing masks, using respirators and various drugs without proof and statistics of effectiveness has been shocking.

Dr. John Campbell has been following this disease since I began and his overview videos are non political, non commercial and based on SCIENCE, not opinion.

This video is just brilliant and less than 20 minutes long.

BE INFORMED rather than simply CONFORM!

International data agrees

If we begin to look at the statistics finally being collected and analysed by those interested in facts and meaningful research, the result is now clear that more panic than common sense has been gripping the world.  This disaster to so many lives has became more of a political 'football', than truthful warnings.

We should be grateful for those who have held the line of facts rather than fantasy during this time.  Dr. John Campbell has shared the facts impassionately and with an innocent wonder for the past two years.

You only have to read the comments of grateful thanks for his videos to realise how hungry people are and have been for facts.

I suspect in five years scientists and statisticians will look back on this time and see, as some have already, that many have used this misfortune to take freedoms and assume control of others ...for their own benefit.

LIES, DAMN LIES AND STATISTICS

The lack of sensible articles and information is disappointing when we all are looking for trusted resources to help keep us safe and healthy during this crisis.  Politicising the issues, the profiteering and panic are not helping anyone.

We will get through this and I hope this blog is serving you well.

Some of you have asked which sites I am sourcing as I endeavour to base these articles on the most reliable and accurate data and information.  Here are some excellent sites I can recommend.  Do not hesitate to inform me of ones you are finding particularly helpful.

Just click on the titles that are centred:

1. Coronavirus Update

Worldometer is run by an international team of developers, researchers, and volunteers with the goal of making world statistics available in a thought-provoking and time relevant format to a wide audience around the world. Worldometer is owned by Dadax, an independent company. We have no political, governmental, or corporate affiliation.

Trusted Authority
Worldometer was voted as one of the best free reference websites by the American Library Association (ALA), the oldest and largest library association in the world.
We have licensed our counters at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), to BBC News, and to the U2 concert, among others.
Worldometer is cited as a source in over 10,000 published books, in more than 6,000 professional journal articles, and in over 1000 Wikipedia pages.

2. Center for Systems Science and Engineering

This is the Johns Hopkins site and features an interactive map documenting the case activity throughout the world.

3. Dr John Campbell YouTubes

Dr Campbell is a qualified medical educator who resides in the UK.  His charming and humble approach is admirable.  He breaks down the basics in easy-to-understand-and-apply ways.

And here is a new one that has come to my attention today:

4. Global Health Security Index

This innovative and interactive world map, covers the key issues, including comparing and evaluating national preventative and management measures.

The Global Health Security Index was "developed with guidance from an international panel of experts from 13 countries, with research by the Economist Intelligence Unit," The Washington Post reported last year. "More than 100 researchers spent a year collecting and validating publicly available data.”

I will continue to update the key statistics twice a day and feature practical information for your benefit.  Please stay safe, observe your national restrictions to the letter, wash your hands properly and stay home.  This is NOT a drill!

The Iranian 'Canary'

Current REPORTED statistics are becoming suspicious.  Even what is available would beg more emphasis on preparation as this is a pandemic now.

Previous Downsizing of Medical Support

Most health care facilities and supportive health clinics have -- over the years -- been downsized to serve the fewest expected patients in an effort to contain and cut cost.

What this has resulted in are fewer beds, fewer health care professionals at hand and fewer supplies and infrastructure.  Therefore, most countries -- even the most developed -- will not be adequately prepared for the significant increases that may be on the way.

China Resource for Medical Supplies

Additionally, most medical supplies and many of the drugs are made from China.  China is no longer exporting medical supplies for the obvious reason.  There seems to be few, if any, alternative suppliers in the world.

IRAN

Pay attention to what is happening in Iran because it is a surprising hot spot and like the proverbial 'canary in the coal mine' what is happening in Iran is shouting pandemic and time to prepare for what is happening.

Here is a current link to more information about Iran:   https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/02/neighbours-close-borders-iran-virus-concerns-rise-200223160135283.html

Interview with Dr. John Campbell

Key Points to Note from the Interview

  • Zoonotic infection - has existed in animals since the 1960s and jumped from animals to humans and is jumping from human to human.
  • Death rates comparison:
    • SARS (10% deathrate - only those exhibiting symptoms transmit the virus)
    • COVID-19 2% deathrate but easy to transmit to others)
    • MERS (35% deathrate harder to transmit)
  • Individuals who have the illness can spread the virus without feeling sick
  • Virus spreads through breathing, sneezing and coughing when the droplets within an infected person are 'shot' into the air
  • If the droplets are breathed in by those nearby or fall on the eye, mouth or surfaces, where it can live perhaps for up to 14 or more days when it is still alive and is transferred through a mucous membrane such as the eye, mouth, nose.
  • WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY
  • There are some individuals with weaker immune systems or other health difficulties (the aged, the unwell and children) who are especially suspectable to the disease
Many unknowns at this time and the virus may still change.  But if nothing changes from now, the virus may peak by May this year and how the virus is managed within China and how other nations react to the disease.
